I use a Roland computer-controlled plotter to cut lettering from coloured adhesive vinyl. The unwanted parts are ‘weeded out’ by hand leaving a positive image. Transfer paper is then applied allowing the graphics to be removed from their liner paper, and the finished decals applied to a substrate – this may be a shop window, a sign panel or direct to a vehicle. It’s pretty simple to apply and I find a lot of my clients like to do it themselves to save money.
Here are a couple of guide prices to give you an idea of costs – these are based on fairly simple designs, single colour decals, supply only:
Standard sign vinyl
Within 580mm wide, per metre | $ 90 |
Within 1180mm wide, per metre | $ 165 |

Colours
Sign vinyl comes in a wide range of colours including metallic, reflective and frosted / etched glass effect. It’s available in 600mm and 1200mm wide rolls (cuttable width 580mm and 1180mm).
Supplying your own artwork?
Your file must be a vector graphic with all text converted to paths. I will need to open your file in Adobe Illustrator in order to check it and format it for the cutter.
